Step into our wonderful school and you will see happy, active and resilient children who take responsibility, have a love of learning and are proud of all they achieve and do. Take time to talk to them and they will enthuse about learning being challenging but exciting, how trips out or visiting experts bring learning to life, how they are leading their own learning and the importance of always striving to achieve the very best that they can.
They discuss with confidence the work of the Eco-school club and School Council making their school and the world they live in a better place. They talk excitedly about the school library and use of ICT and technology helping them to learn both in school and at home. They will share with you everything in which they are involved – debating, choir, tag-rugby, athletics, high 5s, football, gymnastics, drama, computer programming, art, dance, to name a few; the list is exhausting!
Our children achieve very high academic standards, as a result of the dedication and enthusiasm of staff who provide an enriching, nurturing environment through a rich, broad ranging, balanced and active curriculum. Time is invested in building individual strengths and providing targeted support when children need it, whatever their starting point. All they become involved in and engaged with ensures our children make exceptional progress in all areas of the curriculum.
In our school, each individual child’s social, emotional, moral and cultural understanding is as highly valued as the development of their academic, sporting, musical and artistic skills. Our focus on Values-Based education ensures that children leave Rush Common as life-long learners with a sense of responsibility as well as respect and consideration for themselves, others around them and the world in which we live. This prepares the children well for life in secondary school and beyond.
We are very proud of our school and the great things that our children and community achieve together. We hope that you will find our website informative and that it shares a little of what makes Rush Common School so special.
